First,
Thanks to the many people who have been praying for us after Mrs. Dadwithnoisykids' miscarriage. This has been a trying time for us, but also a pouring out of grace for us.
Second,
I have been reading Marriage: A Path to Sanctity by Javier Abad and Eugenio Fenoy(2nd Edition). It is a great book, even for a man who is married almost 19 years.
Here is a good quote from the beginning of the book:
"Getting married means giving half your soul to your spouse and receiving the other's half in return. If both halves complement each other, what heaven it shall be! But if they do not, what hell shall be suffered! For whereas before we had two complete lives, now we have two broken and shattered halves. Let those in love therefore take careful stock of the soul they surrender as well as of the soul surrendered to them."
- Severo Catalina
Good advice, especially as I foresee the Noisykids starting along the vocation trail in the next few years.
Watching the video below, I don't think these folks have the right idea, except the girl does have a good book as a guide: The ABCs of Choosing a Good Husband, by Stephen Wood . Everything goes a bit too fast:
Another reason to avoid Steubenville.
She lay there
labored breathing fast
eyes shut tight
No model
for the hospital
fundraiser
Cute no more
the hair and blush gone
tight skin pale
Cushingoid
hiding the young girl
who still is
Three months past
since I last saw her
once again
Her options
less than once before
still fighting
More pleasing
to God than my smug
lukewarm soul
Jesus died
for the two of us
remember this
Afterwards
finding her mother
on a bench
Her cigarette
smoldering away
falls to earth
I told her
she is doing well
and she sleeps
Not today will
she earn the title
of train wreck

Regarding the quote from Marriage: A Path to Sanctity, I would say I am very close to Heaven with Wifeofdadwithnoisykids...even when we are arguing!
The video is hilarious!
I think the speed is obviously meant to be a joke!
(& I have a number of America friends who went to Steubenville and then are nothing but outstanding and admirable Catholics, and a worthy witness of Christianity to society)
The marriage quote from the books is very nice
ps- The song embodies many admirable characteristics that are beautifully Catholic
* praying for one's spouse
* getting married young
* not waiting many years to get engaged (like secular society does)
(but clearly the speed in the video is not meant to be literal)
* being very open to new life from the outset
I can't see what there's not to like!
Beautiful poem!
And I liked the video-song also!
Antonia,
I loved the video that is why he put it on his blog. I love the part about having children the best!
Wifeofdadwithnoisykids
My son is sitting next to me telling me how he wishes we could have a hundred dozen kids like they say in the video. THAT WOULD BE NEAT!
I'm writing this from my sick bed so excuse my poor writing.
Dear Mrs. Wifewithnosiykids,
my sincerest condolances on your recent miscarriage. I hope you are recovering from your scary and upsetting surgery.
I too liked the song!
Well, I can say from experience sadly that a wrong choice of spouse can lead to hell on earth. I am a divorced and annulled catholic with 4 children and my marriage was hell from beginning to end and on. I was warned by my dear mom who told me the guy didn't love me. She was absolutely right. I got a half a soul that was a complete sham. I prayed so hard, fasted and suffered for him, but in the end, he just couldn't do it. I am better off without him, but my kids are the ones who have suffered terribly. I think I am to blame (bad choice), my parents are to blame (didn't educate me in the faith fully as they figured the schools were doing this - my mom was a devout conservative Catholic by the way), the church is to blame for not preaching the teachings on sexuality and for the poor marriage prep we received. I only hope this stops with my generation. I didn't use contraception and didn't date until I was ready to get married. Sometimes, however, we really don't know what's in another's heart.
YOu are truly blessed to have such a great marriage and I am doomed to live the remainder of my life regretting my poor choice.
I was so sorry to run across this terrible news!
